A judge ordered Sezcan Gonturk, a 32-year-old Turkish national, released under New Jersey’s 2017 bail reform law after a detention hearing last Friday, a day after his arrest.
Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo said his Cyber Crimes Unit found Gonturk with more than 100 digital files “depicting nude or sexually explicit prepubescent children.”
He also distributed more than 25 of the images, the prosecutor said.
Gonturk is charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.
Calo thanked Carlstadt and West New York police for their assistance in the case, as well as the Lyndhurst and Rochelle Park police, who participate in his office’s Cyber Crimes Task Force.
